Sangeetkar

"Sangeetkar," meaning "Music Makers," is a group of instrumental musicians from the Indian subcontinent, presenting North Indian Classical compositions and folk tunes from India, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.
Formed in 1982 in Atlanta, Sangeetkar has performed in art and music festivals, banquets, fundraisers, and Indian and other community events throughout the Southeastern United States.  Sangeetkar was featured in the show "Tonight at Ferlinghetti's" on public television, and has performed frequently on public radio and special events in Atlanta including the Atlanta premiere of the film "Gandhi," J.C. Penney's "Expedition: India," the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's Musical Marathon, and the inauguration ceremony for Georgia’s Governor Barnes at the Governor’s Mansion.  Sangeetkar released their first CD "Pardesi" at a program in Madison Square Gardens, New York, in 1998.
